Remove punctuation from text
Every punctuation mark goes: commas, full stops, question marks, quotes, apostrophes, hyphens, brackets, slashes and hashes. Letters, digits and spaces stay.
Punctuation is removed according to the Unicode definition, so it works for any language and covers marks such as ¿ ¡ « » too. Currency and math symbols such as $ + = are not punctuation and are kept. Contractions lose their apostrophe: "don't" becomes "dont", which is what word lists, search indexes and word clouds usually want. Double spaces left behind are collapsed.
How to remove punctuation from text
- Paste the text. Any language, any length.
- Remove punctuation. One click removes every mark and copies the result.
- Combine if you like. Turn on emoji, accents or markdown to clean those in the same pass.

Questions people ask
Can I keep apostrophes or hyphens?
Not with this switch, which removes all punctuation. To remove only certain marks, use the find and replace tool with a regular expression such as [,.;:!?] in the find box.
Does it remove symbols such as $ or %?
The dollar sign is a currency symbol and stays. The percent sign is classed as punctuation in Unicode and goes.
